Corporate and Social Responsibility is intrinsically tied into how we do business. Our Corporate and Social Responsibility commitments echo the morality and the values that we embody as an organisation and those that we instill within our team and culture. It is also a reflection of our eagerness to innovate and to adapt to the changing world around us. Our priorities are not only to provide valuable professional development training and business solutions, but to always strive to work in an ethical and responsible manner while being a champion of equality and wellbeing in the workplace and within the wider business community. We are also honoured to frequently utilise our platform to raise awareness, funds and support for charities that are closely linked to our values.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing practical, emotional, and financial support to our Forces and their families since 1885. In 2021, their teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts or are still currently serving, and their families. In 2022, we began a series of company supported fundraising events and activities, such as planning a company skydive, regular fundraising coffee mornings and regular promotion on our website and social media channels.

Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant focusses on helping members of the armed forces community have the same access to government and commercial services and products as any other citizen. At In Professional Development, we are proud to support this cause and we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant as a result.

Britannia Bridge Laptop Appeal

The Britannia Bridge Primary School Laptop Appeal aimed to secure donations from individuals and businesses for around 170 devices so pupils at the Wigan school can learn online. We set up a page on the GoFundMe crowd-funding platform promoted the appeal through social media. We also made a substantial cash donation and offered assistance in installing remote learning software.

Save the Children

As a business we annually support Save the Children and raise money for their Christmas Jumper Campaign. This annual fundraising campaign raises money for children in poverty. Our employees and their family members make generous optional donations, and the company makes a donation. We raise money for this during a company wide Christmas Jumper competition held in December, and a winner is awarded for wearing the best Christmas jumper.

The Bread And Butter Thing

The Bread and Butter Thing provide access to nutritious and affordable food in the heart of communities starved of resources. They work hard to manage distribution and improve diets with a diverse variety of healthy products. Their low cost weekly shop provides essential produce for family eating – fresh fruit and veg, fridge favourites and cupboard staples.

We spent the day volunteering at The Bread and Butter Thing, supporting with a range of jobs like packing vans with produce, jetwashing containers and shoveling carrots. It was great to witness all the hard work that the staff and volunteers do to support those in need in the local community. We really enjoyed contributing towards this cause and hope to be back at TBBT soon.
